On October 30–31, 2025, Prof. Rumki Basu attended the 69th Members’ Annual Conference and the 71st Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA). Centered on the theme “Emerging Trends in Public Policy and Public Administration,” the conference served as a vital forum for fellow members and experts to engage in insightful discussions regarding the shifting paradigms of governance. The event also highlighted the significant institutional transformation IIPA has undergone over the last five years, a progress that evoked widespread admiration from the attending academic and administrative community.
A definitive milestone of the conference for Prof. Rumki Basu was the digital release of two of her latest books by the Vice President of India. The titles, “Swastha Bharat and India’s National Health Policy: How far are we from Universal Access?” and “Public Administration in the 21st Century: A Global South Perspective,” represent significant contributions to the discourse on healthcare equity and the unique administrative challenges faced by developing nations. This official recognition underscored the academic rigor and contemporary relevance of her research within the national policy landscape.
The conference was characterized by a seamless blend of thought-provoking technical sessions and high-level networking. Prof. Rumki Basu noted that the event successfully brought together a diverse audience, including civil servants, scholars, media professionals, and students, fostering a multi-generational dialogue on the future of the discipline. The collaborative atmosphere provided an inspiring environment for reflecting on how innovative public policy can meet the demands of a rapidly changing global society.
