The Centre for Public Policy and Governance celebrated the launch of its inaugural book, “Swastha Bharat and India’s National Health Policy: How far are we from Universal Access?”
This publication, launched on 29th November 2024, produced in collaboration with Atlantic Publishing Group, is a compilation of essays presented at the 2022 National Health Conference, along with additional essays incorporating research about healthcare systems in states across India. The book showcases rigorous research and insightful analyses from leading scholars in public health.
The book launch event featured a distinguished panel comprising the editors, Prof. Rumki Basu and Prof. Sanghmitra Sheel Acharya, alongside eminent Health Policy expert Prof. Nakkeeran Nanjappan and Prof. Indranil Mukhopadhyay, one of the contributors, as well as Mr. Ashish Gupta, Executive Director of Atlantic Publishing Group. Prof. Sanghmitra presented each contributor with their personal copy of the book, fostering a sense of community among those who contributed to this significant work.
During the event, several contributors shared their personal journeys related to the book. Notable mentions included Ms. Amrita Khitan and Prof. Bikramaditya Choudhary, who reflected on their experiences and insights gained throughout the writing process.
This publication not only serves as an academic resource but also aims to address critical issues within India’s healthcare system, striving towards the goal of universal access to health services. The collective wisdom encapsulated in this book is expected to contribute significantly to ongoing discussions and policy-making efforts in public health across the nation.
